Why Does Unlocking My MacBook with Apple Watch Take So Long?

I'm really curious about the process of unlocking my MacBook with my Apple Watch. It seems to take at least 30 seconds, and honestly, I can just type my password in about five seconds. Is there a way to speed this unlocking process up? Thanks!

Are you trying to unlock from sleep or when you power on your MacBook? Just to clarify, some people have reported that it doesn't work when the computer is turned off, only from sleep.

Just a heads-up, the Apple Watch unlock feature might be slower if your MacBook is coming out of deep sleep or if there's a connection issue. I mainly use the fingerprint reader since it’s super fast—just one second! But I get that not everyone has that option.

Yeah, the fingerprint reader is a great fallback, but I love the convenience of using my watch when I'm not fully in front of my laptop.

It shouldn't take that long! First off, make sure both your MacBook and Apple Watch are running the latest updates. This can really help with performance issues. Also, check your settings to ensure everything is properly configured for unlocking. If you're still having problems, maybe try toggling the unlocking feature off and on again.

Absolutely. Restarting your Mac after toggling that setting usually works for me.
