I'm having some trouble with Windows 11 Pro where it seems to ignore my Group Policy Object (GPO) power settings. There are a few machines that stay awake for longer than they should, and then they unexpectedly revert to going to sleep. I'm wondering if this is related to feature updates that might be rolling back certain settings. The machines are HP models, and they're using the HP Modern Standby power scheme. I thought that as long as the GPO specifies when to sleep, it shouldn't matter which power scheme is set. In my GPO, I have both the sleep timeout and the unattended sleep timeout set to 0 while plugged in. Is this just an issue with Modern Standby or could it be a GPO refresh problem? I ran GPresult after doing a GPupdate and it looks fine, but I didn't check anything beforehand.

We've had to update BIOS settings on our machines to prevent them from entering sleep states completely; it’s the only surefire way I’ve found. Also, using the powercfg command can help you check your settings. Make sure to use the /A option, it provides valuable info regarding what sleep states your system is supporting.
I faced a similar issue once, and it turned out to be related to the Lenovo Vantage app managing sleep settings. While I’m not familiar with the HP equivalent, it might be worth looking into if HP has a similar application that could be influencing the sleep behavior.
