Why doesn’t the AI know the current date and time?

I'm curious why this AI never seems to know the current day of the week or the time. I find it odd because it can provide historical information from long ago, yet it can't say if today is Wednesday or not. Isn't knowing the basics like the current date part of being 'intelligent'?

The AI is a language model, which means it operates based on a specific set of training data and doesn't have real-time awareness. It can't tell you the current date unless you use additional tools or explicitly tell it what today is. That's why it can pull up old facts but misses today's basics.

MCP is just a way for the AI to access real-time data. You basically give it permission to check the current date or time through other services.

If you want the AI to know the time or date, try using something like an MCP (which stands for Multi-Channel Protocol). It helps bridge that gap between the AI's coding and real-time data.
