I'm having an issue with EAanti-cheat when trying to launch Battlefield 2042. I got the game through Xbox Game Pass and on my first attempt, everything worked fine. However, now I keep getting a security violation message that says, "This software cannot be used at the same time as the game. Please make sure it's not running, or restart your PC. (84):DiscSoftLTD." I've tried quite a few things such as uninstalling and reinstalling the anti-cheat, checking device manager, and going through task manager to see if anything is running in the background. I've also checked the services.msc for any related services and used an uninstall tool, but nothing is showing up since I don't have anything from DiscSoftLTD currently installed. I think I may have had some of their software long ago, but that was years ago and I've replaced that hard drive since then. I've restarted my computer around 10 times hoping to fix this. Any ideas on what might be causing this issue?

Make sure to look for any remnants of Daemon Tools or similar applications. Sometimes those programs can leave behind files or services even after you've uninstalled them. You can also try searching for "DiscSoftLTD" specifically in your files to see if any folders are left. If you find anything, get rid of it and restart your PC again!
It sounds like the issue could be related to older software lingering on your system. Programs like Daemon Tools or similar utilities can sometimes leave traces even after uninstallation. Have you checked your installed programs for anything from DiscSoft? If you find any remnants, try removing them and see if that helps. Also, running a cleanup tool could free up any leftover files that conflict with EA's anti-cheat.
Yeah, I just went through my installed software and found a couple of old programs that I thought I uninstalled. Make sure you check everything thoroughly!
I've been through this too. If you can't find anything in the programs, try running an antivirus scan just to rule out any hidden files.
Definitely do a file search for that. I had a similar issue and found some old files that were causing problems before.
