I'm having a major issue with MsMpEng.exe, and it's really dragging down my laptop's performance. It takes forever to download even small games—I'm talking hours for just 5GB! It's consuming around 80% of my memory, and I can't seem to close it through the task manager. I've tried adding it to exclusions and even resetting my laptop multiple times, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

First off, can you share your laptop specs and your internet plan speed? MsMpEng.exe is actually the Windows Defender service, and it shouldn’t be slowing down your downloads or hogging 80% of your memory. Are you sure it's taking up that much total RAM? How much memory do you have in total?
That screenshot you shared shows the antimalware service executable. It's weird that it's using so much memory. Have you checked your total RAM? If you have limited memory, that could explain the slowness. Sometimes running multiple programs while downloading can also strain your system. Try closing unnecessary apps while you download.
