I'm trying to format my 1.5TB external hard drive for my PS4, but I've noticed that it's only recognizing about 298GB. I've checked in disk management and there's no unallocated space showing up. I'm really confused about this issue and I'm looking for some advice on what to do next.

You might need to do a full format and rebuild the partitions to match the correct size. Most PCs can handle that easily. Just a heads up, it's also possible that the drive is fake and is showing a lot more memory than it actually has. On a side note, if the drive had previous data, the PS4 might have created a new partition without using the remaining space.
If you're looking to format it, you can use tools like Disk Management on Windows or Disk Utility on Mac to delete the current partitions and create a new one. Just make sure to back up anything important!
It sounds like your drive might need to have its partition table zeroed out using a tool like /bin/dd, which will allow the PS4 to format it correctly. Give that a shot!
I got it from Best Buy, so I doubt it's fake. I did make some partitions before for movies on my PS4 a while back. How do I go about formatting and rebuilding partitions? I'm willing to learn!
