Why is my 3DMark score lower than expected after my GPU upgrade?

I recently upgraded to a 9070 XT graphics card, but when I ran a couple of benchmarks, my 3DMark score came out below average. I had checked for bottlenecks beforehand and saw no significant issues, yet the overall performance feels lackluster. Here's a link to my 3DMark score for reference: [3DMark Score](https://www.3dmark.com/sn/9816293). What could be causing this?

Your setup might be okay. My starting score with a much better CPU was only slightly higher, at 7051 with an AMD 9800X3D and the same GPU. You're not too far off with your specs, so it might be within the normal variation.

3DMark scores can often be competitive, so being below average might not be a huge surprise unless you're specifically pushing for a high score. Many factors can contribute to this, including CPU performance and system configuration.

Have you checked how your M.2 drives are installed? If they're in the wrong slots, it can reduce your PCIe lanes, affecting the performance of your GPU. Some motherboards can downgrade the speed when you use certain slots.

It’s interesting. My score is around 6690 at stock, but with a little tweaking, I pushed it to 7200. Some variations might be due to factory settings or model differences in the card itself. Just a heads-up, mine is an XFX quicksilver edition.

Bottleneck calculators can sometimes give misleading results. It's worth considering a CPU upgrade if you're using a 5800X—something like the 5700X3D or 7600X might match better with your 9070 XT, especially for gaming. But remember, being below average doesn’t necessarily mean something’s wrong.
