Why is my ASUS VivoBook so slow after a year?

I bought my ASUS VivoBook back in 2021 specifically for college, and it performed really well at first. However, after around a year, its performance took a nosedive, making it nearly unusable. I've been trying to troubleshoot it for about a year now, but so far, nothing has worked. I even did a full reset, but the disk usage is constantly sitting at 100% with no apps open. On the rare occasion that I restart it right after turning it on, the disk usage might drop to 0%-20%. I'm not too tech-savvy, so I might not be explaining things perfectly—sorry about that!

It sounds like your laptop is using an HDD, which can definitely explain the slow performance. HDDs tend to struggle with disk management, leading to high usage numbers, especially when the drive gets older. Have you thought about getting an external SSD? It might give you a performance boost since it’d be faster, and since you're mainly using it for gaming like Roblox, it could work well for you!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking! I'm hoping an external SSD would be a good option since I just need it for lighter stuff.
