I've run into a pretty frustrating issue with my laptop, which is only about 6 months old. I was just moving a file in File Explorer when I suddenly got a message that I needed administrator access to do it. I clicked the admin approval, but it failed. Then, I checked the properties of my folders and discovered that the entire C: Drive is now marked as read-only. I tried using the Command Prompt as an admin to clear the readonly attribute, but it failed with the message "DiskPart failed to clear disk attributes." Someone mentioned my drive might be failing and trying to protect my data. I'm really not sure where to go from here. What should I do first?

It sounds like your drive might be trying to protect itself because there could be some underlying issues. The first thing you should do is back up your important files, especially anything in your Documents folder. Don't try to copy too much at once, as that could risk crashing everything. Once you've secured your important data, then you can evaluate the situation further.

Okay, I get that. So after I back everything up, what are my next steps? Do I have to contact tech support, or can I troubleshoot this myself?
