Hey everyone! I've been having this weird issue with my keyboard where, when the Caps Lock is on, it behaves as if I'm holding down the Shift key. For example, if I press '1', it outputs '!' instead of just '1'. I've tried changing the Caps Lock settings in GNOME Tweaks, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else faced this problem and found a solution?

Isn’t that just how Caps Lock works? I thought it was supposed to toggle uppercase letters, not act like a modifier key. But it sounds like something's off for you.
Nowadays, Caps Lock indeed works like a Shift key, just toggled instead of held. This has roots in typewriters which used similar mechanics. It's a bit of a confusion for some who are used to the traditional typing methods. You can read more about the reasoning behind it if you're curious!
Yeah, but remember older typewriters often had a Shift Lock feature, not quite the same as our Caps Lock today.
You might have enabled the 'caps:shiftlock' option in your keyboard settings, which can change how Caps Lock behaves. Check your GNOME keyboard layout settings to see if there's an option like "Caps Lock toggles Shift Lock." This could be the root of the issue, and remapping Caps Lock won't help if this is enabled.
I thought the same, but my Caps Lock doesn’t change numbers into their symbol versions. It's definitely acting strange!
