Why is my computer overheating even after cleaning it?

I've been having a real issue with my computer overheating. I noticed it's hitting temperatures of 60-70°C when I'm not running anything demanding, and when I open Chrome or Microsoft Edge, it climbs even higher. When I run games like Minecraft or Monster Hunter World, it's averaging around 90-105°C! I've tried cleaning out the fans, which helped a bit since it was shutting down before, but I'm still really worried about these high temps. This computer cost me around $1,300, and I can't afford to replace it. A friend built it for me and it worked fine until just a couple of days ago. The only big change recently was a Microsoft update. I've also updated my drivers and checked a few other things, but nothing seems to be solving the problem. Does anyone have any advice on what's going on?

Looking at the picture you posted, it seems you have a stock AMD cooler. That cooler isn't the greatest and is often joked about for its poor performance. Swapping it out for a better cooler might really help lower those temps!

It would really help to see a picture of the inside of your PC. That way, anyone looking can help diagnose issues more effectively.

Just to clarify, are you using a laptop or a desktop?

I have a desktop.

First off, can you list your hardware parts, especially your CPU and cooling system? Usually, overheating like this could be due to the cooler. You might need to remove it, clean the CPU and cooler surface, and reapply thermal paste. If you're using a water cooler, it could be that the pump has failed too. Check that out!

Sure, let me dig up my specs real quick.

A lot of people immediately jump to blaming the stock cooler, but it’s usually not the issue unless you’re overclocking. I’d suggest checking how your friend built it to ensure the thermal paste is applied correctly. That could make a significant difference!
