Why is my CPU maxing out while gaming and streaming?

I've got a gaming PC that's about a year old, and I'm trying to stream while playing Fortnite. I'm running OBS, Discord, and Tikfinity all at once, but my CPU usage spikes to 100%, causing frame drops and stuttering in my game. My setup is as follows: an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GPU, 64GB DDR5 RAM with a speed of 5200MHz, a 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD, a B650 motherboard, an NZXT Kraken 280 Elite RGB cooler, and a 750W power supply. Can anyone suggest what I might need to upgrade to improve performance, or is my only option to invest in a dedicated streaming PC?

Could you share which B650 motherboard you’re using? Also, what resolution are you playing at? These details can make a difference. Generally, playing at 1920x1080 might be the norm, but every little thing counts!

I had a similar issue where OBS was set to use my CPU instead of the GPU for streaming, and that really spiked my CPU usage! Make sure OBS is set correctly for better performance; let us know how it goes after that change!

You should definitely consider encoding your stream with your GPU instead of your CPU. It can significantly reduce the load on your CPU. Also, having four sticks of RAM can hurt performance if they’re not the fastest available, so you might want to look into that too.
