Why is my CPU overheating after a power outage?

I have a setup with a 9060XT GPU, a 7600X CPU, and an Asrock B650M motherboard. Everything was running smoothly until we had a couple of power outages in the neighborhood. After shutting down my PC during the outages, I turned it back on an hour later, and I've noticed that my CPU's idle temperature is 20 degrees higher than usual. While downloading a game on Steam, the temperature spikes to a consistent 80 degrees, and the fans are so loud that I'm sure my neighbors can hear them! What could be causing this?

Honestly, 80 degrees is still within a safe temperature range for CPUs. However, if the ambient temperature in your room hasn't changed, it's weird that your system is so loud. Usually, it runs at around 46 degrees idle and maxing out at around 65 degrees while gaming, so it looks like something is off. You might want to keep an eye on it, though it doesn't seem like it's overheating per se.

Yeah, I agree it doesn't seem like overheating based on specs, but the noise is definitely a concern. Thanks for your input!

First off, what type of cooler are you using—air or liquid? If it's a liquid cooler, it's possible the pump might have failed. If you have an air cooler like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE, check if the fan curves or fan settings got altered when the power went out, because sometimes they can reset and lead to weird temperatures. Make sure the cooler is functioning as it should!
