Why Is My CPU Overheating After Years of Use?

Hey everyone! I've been using my PC for quite a while without any overheating issues, but recently I've noticed my CPU temps skyrocketing. I have an Intel i7 9700K with a Corsair H60 liquid cooler. I just reapplied the thermal paste to see if it would help, but as soon as I boot up, the temperatures hit 90-100°C instantly. The fan on the pump seems to be running, but I'm not sure what could be causing this problem. Any ideas?

It sounds like there might be some blockage in the tubes of your cooler. If the pump has failed, that could also be a major issue since the water wouldn’t be circulating properly. Just because the fan is spinning doesn’t guarantee that the pump is pumping. You could try to check by feeling the tubes; if one side is hot and the other is cold, that could indicate a pump failure.

In the BIOS, it looks like the pump fan is running around 1950 RPM, which is a good sign. However, if the CPU fan is showing 0 RPM, that’s concerning. Make sure the pump is properly connected to the motherboard's fan header. You might want to switch where it's plugged in to see if that resolves the issue.
