Why is my CPU overheating even without gaming?

I'm experiencing high CPU temperatures ranging from 80 to 90 degrees Celsius, and I haven't even been playing any games. I've recently installed an AIO cooler, and the thermal paste is new, so I'm puzzled as to why my CPU is overheating so much. Has anyone faced a similar issue or have suggestions on what might be wrong?

You might need to provide more details about your CPU and AIO cooler model. Also, when did this temperature spike start? It's possible there are air bubbles in the AIO. There are guides online on how to remove them, which could help improve cooling performance.

First thing to check is if you took off the protective plastic from the contact area of the cooler before mounting it on the CPU. If that plastic is still there, it could definitely cause overheating!

Exactly! That’s a common mistake that can lead to serious thermal issues.

What software are you using to monitor the temperatures? Sometimes the readings can be inaccurate due to software glitches. It might be worth trying a different monitoring tool just to be sure.

Check if the pump on your AIO is functioning properly. Sometimes, a faulty pump can lead to inadequate cooling. Also, ensure the cooler is properly seated on the CPU and that it's plugged in.
