I'm having a tough time figuring out why my CPU is overheating. All my fans are connected to a hub and there's no USB connection to the motherboard, which has me confused. The fans seem to be running a bit slow. I think my AIO cooler is working okay—the pump is functioning and coolant is flowing. It feels slightly cold around the pump and CPU area. However, my CPU temperature is hitting around 80 degrees Celsius and climbing a degree every second or two, even though I'm currently just using BIOS with one hard drive and no operating system installed. I'm puzzled because the fans are powered by a SATA cable and don't connect to the motherboard. I've got a Ryzen 7 5700 and a 3060, and I honestly doubt that the thermal paste is the problem since it was applied only six months ago. I'm here to answer any questions to clarify!

It sounds like your issue could be related to the thermal paste. When did you last apply it? If it's not making good contact with the CPU, that could lead to overheating. However, six months doesn't seem like too long. If you think your AIO is working fine, I'd double-check whether it’s installed correctly and ensure that thermal paste is evenly distributed over the CPU.

That's a fair point, but honestly, my old prebuilt ran for 10 years with just one re-application and never had heating issues. Also, I was wondering about the micro USB connection to the fan hub—does that connect to a 9-pin connector on the motherboard?
