Why is My CPU Package Temperature So High and Causing Crashes?

I'm having a frustrating issue with Battlefield 6 repeatedly crashing and even restarting my PC. I've monitored my CPU max temperature, which is showing 54 degrees Celsius, and my GPU max temperature at 62 degrees, both of which I believe are alright. However, I just started using HWiNFO to check the PSU voltage, and I noticed the CPU package temperature is at a striking 97 degrees. I'm not sure what CPU package temperature is compared to the readings on my sensor LCD, and I'm worried that this high reading could be causing my PC to restart. Can someone explain what CPU package temperature means and suggest ways to resolve this issue? Here are my specs for reference: ASUS PRIME Z790M-PLUS, Intel Core i7-14700KF, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM.

Have you tried running RivaTuner along with your other settings? I had a similar issue where my system was crashing, and once I updated RivaTuner, the crashes decreased significantly. I also do a lot of overclocking, so I had previously tested stability with tools like OCCT and y-cruncher, and updating that software helped me a lot.

I’m not using RivaTuner. What exactly does it do, and would it help to run it?
