Why Is My CPU Running at 100% Idle and Hitting 80°C?

Hey all! I recently built a system with a 14900k CPU, and I'm facing an issue where it's idling at a whopping 100% usage, and the temperature shoots up to 70-80°C as soon as Windows loads. In the BIOS, the CPU temperature is around 30°C, which seems fine. I've checked Task Manager, but I can't figure out which process is causing this high usage. I've already disabled all non-Windows background processes and startup items. I'm pretty stumped about what's going on and would really appreciate any help. My motherboard is a z790 Aorus Master, and I'm using a Thermalright Trofeo AIO. Thanks!

Check out Resource Monitor for a deeper look into what's using up your CPU. It might give you some insights into processes that Task Manager doesn't show right away.

Yeah, I’ll definitely try that out!

Have you tried booting in safe mode? It could help in determining if a third-party software is causing these issues. Also, remember that if your CPU is at 100%, it's not really idling!
