Why is my CPU usage so high while my GPU usage is so low compared to benchmarks?

I'm using an NVIDIA 1070 GPU and an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU with 16GB of 3200MHz RAM. When I play games, I stick to the lowest graphical settings possible. However, I've noticed that my CPU usage is close to 100%, while my GPU sits around 10-20%. This seems very different from benchmark videos I've seen featuring similar setups, where users have higher GPU utilization and lower CPU usage. Is there a reason for this discrepancy? Does anyone have tips or fixes for this issue?

One simple fix is to try raising your graphics settings a bit. Lower settings often lead to the CPU running at full tilt while the GPU sits idle, waiting on the CPU. If you bump up those settings, you should see the GPU doing more work and the CPU utilization drop, which aligns more with those benchmarks you’re watching.
