Why is my desktop PC getting slower WiFi speeds than my laptop?

Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of a WiFi speed issue with my new desktop PC. I just got a Dell Optiplex 3060 micro PC and I'm using a TP-Link AC600 dual band USB adapter, which should be capable of 600Mbps. My internet plan is 50Mbps, but I'm only getting speeds around 6-10Mbps on the PC. Meanwhile, my laptop is consistently getting higher speeds. I checked the speed using an Ethernet connection and it hits the full 50Mbps. I'm wondering if I need to change the WiFi adapter or if it's my single-band TP-Link WR 840N router that's the problem. Any ideas?

Have you made sure you're comparing megabits, not megabytes? Sometimes that confuses people. Also, double-check if you've properly installed the WiFi antennae on your desktop. They can make a big difference!

Yes, I confirmed it's 50 Megabits that I'm getting. The Ethernet connection works fine, but over WiFi, it's always 6-10 Mbps. I've got the TP-Link Archer T2UB Nano USB adapter right now. Not sure what's going wrong.
