Why is my DRAM light on after CPU upgrade?

I recently upgraded my CPU from an i5 13600KF to an i7 14700K, but my monitors wouldn't turn on. I realized I forgot to update the BIOS, so I switched back to my old CPU. Now, the DRAM light on my motherboard is illuminated and I'm still not getting any display on my monitors. I've already tried powering off the system, unplugging it, and taking out the CMOS battery for about 7 minutes but nothing has worked. I'm looking for any advice or help here!

I ran into a similar problem when I had my RAM sticks installed incorrectly. I ended up removing two out of four sticks, and that did the trick! After that, I was able to download and install the latest BIOS update from ASRock without issues.

What size and speed of RAM are you using? This might help figure out if there's a compatibility issue.

If your motherboard allows it, sometimes you don't even need a CPU installed to update the BIOS. Make sure to clear the CMOS properly too. That might reset everything and help get past this issue.

I've got an Asrock B660M-C board. Tried shorting the clrmos1 pins, but it still didn't work. The CPU light flickers then goes off, but the DRAM light stays on with no display.

Since the CPU light turns off, focus on the RAM. Maybe try reseating the RAM sticks or testing just one stick at a time. Sometimes that's all it takes!
