Why is my Ethernet speed so slow compared to my Wi-Fi?

I've hooked up a 50ft CAT 6A cable from my Eero 7 Pro router to my PC, but the download speeds are only around 300 Mbps, which is only a third of what I got with Wi-Fi. My ISP promises 2Gbps for both download and upload. The Eero app shows the right speeds coming from the modem, and I've tried updating my Ethernet driver and using different cables. My PC has a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port, so I really don't understand what's going wrong. After four hours talking with tech support from Frontier and Eero, I'm still lost. Any suggestions?

When your speed is only about 1/8 of what you expect, you might want to double-check if everything is set up correctly. Remember that 2500 megabits per second translates roughly to 312 megabytes per second, so something definitely seems off here!

I'm consistently getting 300 Mbps for downloads but hitting around 2000 Mbps for uploads.

Do you have any electronic devices nearby that could be causing interference? If you're not sure, try turning off everything in your house and do a speed test to see if that makes any difference.

It might also help to test the connection with a different computer or laptop. That said, I've heard some folks say that the Eero app's speed test isn't very reliable, so don’t put all your faith in that.

The speed test I used is from speedtest.net. After digging around, I suspect it might be an issue with the Eero not supporting speeds over 1Gbps via Ethernet.

First things first, have you tried testing with another Ethernet cable? Sometimes the issue can be as simple as a faulty cable even if it looks fine. It's worth a shot!

I actually used a couple of other cables, including the good one from the router to the modem, but it didn't help.
