Why is My First PC Struggling with Apex Legends Performance?

Hey everyone! I just built my first PC and I'm not super tech-savvy, so I could use some advice. Here are my specs:
- CPU: i5 14400F
- GPU: RX 7800 XT
- RAM: 16x2 DDR4 3200

I'm playing Apex Legends on low settings at 1080p, and I'm only getting around 120fps to 210fps, with an average of about 180fps. The frame rate seems to drop mostly when I look at the center of the map. Interestingly, when I switch to ultra settings, the performance doesn't change much — maybe slightly lower average fps. I've already updated my GPU drivers using AMD Adrenaline, but I couldn't find any benchmark tests for my specific setup. I did see that a similar CPU with an RTX 4060 Ti can hit 300fps on low settings, and the same CPU paired with an RTX 5060 has an average of 200fps on high settings. Is my performance normal, or is there something I can do to boost it? I appreciate any help!

You might also want to look into optimizing your game settings. Lowering shadows or post-process effects can sometimes free up more resources and boost your FPS. It’s worth playing around with those settings a bit more and see if you notice any improvement!

First off, welcome to the PC gaming world! Your performance seems a bit off considering the specs. One thing you should check is the RAM speed. Your RAM is 3200MHz, but the examples you found used faster DDR5 RAM. This could give you a noticeable boost, especially in a CPU-bound game like Apex. You might want to consider upgrading your RAM for better performance.

That’s a good point. Higher speed RAM can definitely make a difference in FPS. Just keep in mind the specs of your motherboard when considering upgrades.
