Why Is My Gaming Laptop Struggling with Memory Usage?

Hey everyone, I recently picked up an Asus ROG Strix gaming laptop and initially ran into some issues with 16GB of RAM seeming insufficient. I thought upgrading to 32GB would solve the problem, but I'm still finding that I can't run Chrome alongside a game without both dropping to about 30fps. It's worth mentioning that I'm not playing anything super intensive; usually, I just have YouTube open in Chrome. Is there something I can do to improve performance?

Running both Chrome and a game at the same time can be tricky. Performance issues could actually come from your CPU/GPU limitations rather than memory. But if your GPU is a 4060 and the CPU is only at 20% usage, then it might not be the hardware holding you back. Just something to think about!

Yeah, I checked my specs, and the GPU should be fine. Just really confusing why it’s not performing better.

You might be experiencing a memory leak with Chrome. It can happen, especially if it's been open for a while or if there's a background update happening. Have you considered trying a different browser to see if performance improves?

What’s your memory usage percentage looking like? You didn’t mention that! Just to clarify, are you saying Chrome drops to 30fps too? Also, what model of the laptop are you using? High memory usage can cause stuttering if it hits 100%, but it shouldn't directly drop your fps.
