Why is my gaming performance lower than expected with my new PC?

Hey everyone! So, I recently built a PC with an i5 13400f and a 4070, but I'm noticing that my performance seems to lag behind what the benchmarks suggest, especially in games. Is this a potential bottleneck issue? I'm curious if it's worth upgrading my CPU to a Ryzen or a higher-end Intel. By the way, my motherboard is a Gigabyte B760 Gaming X AX. Sorry if my English isn't perfect; it's not my first language!

Have you checked the CPU and GPU usage while gaming? Tools like Afterburner can provide some graphs that can help you see if either component is being overworked. That could give you clues about where the slowdown is happening.

Bottlenecks can vary a lot depending on factors like the game you're playing, the settings, and the resolution. Make sure your RAM is set up correctly; enabling XMP can boost performance significantly. Sometimes if you have single channel RAM, that can also hinder your system's speed.
