Hey everyone! I just picked up the game Lake on Steam, which is supposedly not very demanding on my PC. However, I've noticed that my GPU temperature spikes to 85°C when I play it, and the fan sounds like a jet engine. This doesn't happen with other games such as The Sims 4, Fortnite, or Firewatch. My PC has recently undergone a major service with new power supply and case fans being installed. I also tried undervolting using Afterburner and followed various tutorials, but the issue persists. Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening and how I can prevent it?

It sounds like Lake might be running at a really high frame rate even though it shouldn't take much to run it. Try capping the frame rate in the game settings or through your GPU settings to match your monitor's refresh rate.
All games can theoretically run at infinite FPS if there's no limit, which could drain your GPU power even if the game is light. Other games like The Sims 4 and Fortnite are more CPU intensive, so they max out the CPU before stressing the GPU. Lake seems to have more graphics demand though. You might want to drop the frame rate to 30 temporarily to see if the temps go down.
Just so you know, 85°C is actually within the acceptable range for GPUs!
The main issue isn't just the temp; it's the loud fan noise that's bothersome. I’ll definitely check out the option of lowering to 30fps. Thanks!

The game is at 60fps, and I also capped it to 55fps in the Nvidia app, but the temperature still hits 85 degrees. Thanks for the suggestion though!
