Why is My GPU Upscaling Images Automatically?

I've been using a 6750 XT with an R5 5600, and I noticed something odd while gaming on Thursday. The game's graphics looked super blurry, almost like they were upscaled, but I didn't enable any upscaling settings. I checked the in-game options, and there was no upscaling feature. I even looked through the Adrenalin Software, but all upscaling options were off. After trying DDU and reinstalling the drivers, the issue persists. Interestingly, when I launched Valorant, I didn't experience this problem. Could it be related to Steam? I'm looking for any advice on why this is happening and how to fix it!

Steam recently introduced a global resolution scaling feature for some games. You might want to check settings in Steam: go to Steam > Settings > In-Game and turn off 'Enable hardware video decoding'. Also, for each game, right-click in your library, go to properties, and check the launch options. That might help!

I couldn't find 'Enable hardware video decoding' under the In-Game settings. All my games have blank Launch Options too.

I found the setting under the Interface tab, turned it off, restarted Steam, but it’s still upscaling.

It could be that your game isn't set to the monitor's native resolution, which forces it to scale up. If that's the case, I recommend using intelligent scaling options like FSR or DLSS. Standard scaling often looks terrible. Alternatively, you could disable scaling, but you'd have black borders around your game.

All the games I have on Steam are already set to the native resolution, so that shouldn't be the issue. This problem just started suddenly.
