Last weekend, there was a power outage, and since then, my friend's HP Omen 45L PC, which has a 5090 GPU and a 1200 W 80 Plus Gold certified power supply, has been shutting down instantly when launching games, but only when connected to CyberPower products like the GX150C2 Battery Backup or the GXS1005C2 Surge Protector. We tested it with a new GXS1005C2 and some cheap surge protectors, and it works fine when plugged directly into the wall or those other brands. Initially, everything worked together perfectly before the outage. What could have gone wrong? Just to clarify, Windows and NVIDIA drivers are updated, HP software is current, and I've run some command prompt checks as well as reset the power plan settings. I even did a clean install of the display drivers.

It's hard to say for sure without running tests, but it sounds like the power supply unit (PSU) may have been affected by the outage. It could be that it got damaged during the brownout or from the surge when power came back. Sometimes, surge protectors can introduce a small leakage to ground, which might now be triggering a sensitive response in your PSU. Considering a replacement for the PSU could be wise, since you don't want to wait for it to fail completely.

Thanks for the insight! The fact that it doesn't shut off when plugged directly into the wall or different surge protectors is really confusing. I know the UPS and surge protectors work fine with older builds, but not with this new HP Omen configuration. I'm genuinely worried about the PSU damaging the rest of the system.
