I recently enabled Secure Boot in the BIOS on my Gigabyte motherboard for Windows 11, and now my internet is painfully slow and inconsistent. I disabled Secure Boot again, but the problem lingers. This has been happening for about five hours.
Symptoms include both my router and PC showing an orange light where the Ethernet cable is connected, while other users plugged into the same router have a green light and get speeds around 200MBs. I'm stuck with an inconsistent 20-25MBs. Discord and Steam barely load, YouTube struggles, Google works occasionally, and Reddit is hit-or-miss.
Things I've tried:
- Resetting the network twice.
- Unplugging and replugging the Ethernet cable.
- Swapping Ethernet cable positions.
- Power cycling the internet equipment.
- Restarting my PC and fully powering it down.
- Restarting the network adapter and running a network test.
- Trying to use WiFi.
- Disabling and enabling Secure Boot multiple times.
- Checking the device manager for updated network drivers—I'm up to date.
From what I've read, my network adapters might be corrupted, but I'm really confused at this point. An update: sometimes adjusting a setting in my WiFi driver temporarily speeds things up, but after a reboot, I'm back to slow speeds. I'm going to sleep now, but I'll try to figure it out later.

It sounds like your Ethernet driver may have reverted to an older version. Try downloading the latest driver directly from the manufacturer of the Ethernet chip. If you can’t find that, check the gigabyte website for your motherboard's specific LAN driver and install that. Sometimes, driver issues can cause these kinds of problems, and a fresh install can help.

I downloaded the gigabyte LAN driver from last September, but no luck. Could you explain how to download the chip maker's driver?
