I've been experiencing some bizarre battery drain issues with my new iPhone 17 Pro, which I bought a month ago. Despite having 100% battery health, I consistently seem to use more than 130% of my battery in a day, sometimes even hitting 170%. For instance, after waking up with 74% at 10 AM and using it for light stuff like chatting on Instagram and WhatsApp, I dropped to 57% by 11:40 AM. I've tried all sorts of tips such as turning off background app refresh, keeping low power mode on, and more, but nothing seems to work. Is this a common issue among users, or do I possibly have a defective device?

Honestly, you might be overthinking it. Just enjoy your iPhone! When it runs low, just charge it up. Optimized battery charging might not fully kick in yet since it has to learn your habits. Losing 17% in a little over an hour isn't unusual, especially if you're surfing the web. You could also lower your screen brightness a bit—it helps a lot with battery life.
Why not plug in your phone overnight? You shouldn't wake up under 100% battery. I get that you're trying to keep the battery healthy, but letting it drop too low repeatedly can actually have the opposite effect. Also, closing and reopening apps can drain more battery than just leaving them open. Have you considered using Wi-Fi to save some data and battery?
