I've been using my Asus Rog Strix G16 laptop for a few years, and lately, the fan has started making some odd noises. It's been a bit annoying for a few months now, but today, I'm hearing squeaking sounds. I'm worried this might just be a dust issue, but I'm not sure. I can't afford to take it to a repair shop, and I'm also hesitant to open it myself because I might mess something up. What should I do?

You might want to check out some repair guides on iFixit. It seems like a beginner-friendly task, and those teardown videos could give you the confidence you need to tackle it yourself.
From what you're describing, it sounds like your fan could have bad bearings or there’s dust buildup. It's possible that it’s unbalanced too. I’d recommend not using it too much until you can replace the fan. If you continue to use it, you risk overheating and causing more expensive issues down the line.
Yeah, that does sound like the fan bearings are failing. Modern CPUs have good protections against overheating, so you might be okay for a bit, but you definitely need to get that fan replaced soon.
