Hey everyone! I'm currently gaming on my ASUS TUF 506 laptop with a 1660 TI and a Ryzen 7 4800H, along with 16 GB of RAM. It's been performing well for the last couple of years, no major issues really. However, I've noticed that while playing games like Elder Scrolls Online, the temperature spikes up to about 94°C. I've cleaned the fans and replaced the thermal paste with MX6 that I saw recommended on Reddit, but it doesn't seem to be helping. The performance remains solid, usually above 100 FPS, but I'm really concerned about these high temperatures. Am I going to have issues with my laptop now? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hitting 94°C on a laptop isn't super unusual, especially while gaming. It might not be ideal, but it's still considered within the acceptable range for most CPUs. Honestly, if you were expecting cooler temps, that's a bit optimistic for gaming laptops. Just keep an eye on it, and if you notice any performance drops or overheating that's causing shutdowns, then it would be time to look into further cooling solutions.
I've had laptops that run hot like that and they seemed fine. Just monitor it!
Make sure your fans are running at full speed. When gaming, you should feel the hot air coming out of the vents. If it's working properly and you're still hitting 94°C, just keep monitoring it. If your fan isn't ramping up as needed, that could be a sign something's off. Don't ignore those high temps for too long, though.
The fan adjusts speed and seems to be working fine, but I still worry that 94°C is just too high!
Yeah, I totally get that! Just keep an eye on it and don’t hesitate to shut down if it gets too hot.
94°C is quite a bit hotter than what I would expect for your model. Most reviews say it should peak around 90°C at max load. Check if you're blowing hot air out of all vents. If the left vent isn't warm, that could indicate an issue with the GPU cooling. It's probably fine, but definitely keep monitoring those temps. You might want to adjust your power settings or consider a cooling pad to help with airflow.
The fans adjust speed, and I haven't noticed any performance hits. But I'm still a bit freaked about that heat!
Sounds like your setup is running fine, but definitely keep it clean and consider that cooling pad!
I thought anything over 90°C was a no-go; isn't that dangerous for the hardware?
