Why is My Laptop Treating All USB Sticks as Write-Protected?

Hey everyone! I've been facing a strange problem with my laptop. Every time I plug in a USB stick, I get hit with a prompt forcing me to encrypt it with BitLocker, even though I thought BitLocker was turned off. After stopping the BitLocker service through PowerShell, I thought things would improve, but now my laptop insists that every USB stick I try to use is write-protected. It's baffling because the same sticks work fine on other PCs without a hitch—like I've tried 5 different ones!

Here's what I've already done to troubleshoot:
- Checked the StorageDevicePolicies and BitLocker registry keys,
- Reinstalled the USB drivers,
- Uninstalled my antivirus,
- Verified all the BitLocker policies in gpedit.msc are set to 'Not configured',
- Even left the domain in case it was domain-related.

Still, nothing seems to help. I'm really at a loss here. Why does my laptop refuse to let me write to any USB sticks? Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks! :))

It sounds like you might have a group policy issue. Have you tried running the command `GPRESULT` in the command prompt? It will show you if there are any group policies affecting USB storage on your laptop.

Thanks for the suggestion! I checked the report, and it turns out there are no active group policies related to USB storage. Everything is set to 'Not Configured'.
