I have an HP laptop that's almost 5 years old, and it's been running really slowly lately. When I look at the Task Manager, the CPU speed is showing only 0.8 GHz, even though the base clock speed is supposed to be 2.5 GHz. I've tried restarting and shutting down the laptop multiple times. The temperatures seem fine, and I've checked the SSD and RAM, both of which are good. It's plugged in, but it's never been this slow, even when unplugged. This isn't the first time it's happened; it went back to normal on its own last September after several hours. Any ideas on what's going on?

Have you checked the CPU usage? Sometimes, background processes can hog resources, but if nothing is running, this might not apply. It could help to keep an eye on that next time it happens!

I’ll check that next time, thanks!
