Why is my laptop’s memory usage so high even when I’m not using it?

I've got a laptop with 16GB of RAM, and I just realized that my memory usage is sitting at around 46% even when I'm not actively doing anything. I've already turned off SysMain and tried some tweaks from Chris Titus' GitHub. Any ideas on what might be going on or how to fix it? Thanks!

That high memory usage is actually normal for Windows. It pre-caches applications you've used recently so they open faster next time. Don't worry too much about it!

So when I play games, does it mess with that caching process?
