I'm experiencing high memory usage on my computer, often between 48% and over 80%, and the only thing I really have open is a couple of apps. I have 16GB of RAM, running a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 processor. I'd like to understand why this is happening and if it's normal or if I need to make some adjustments. Here are my hardware specs: 2x 8GB Kingston RAM modules, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 for graphics, and I'm using Windows with a total virtual memory of 26.7GB. Can someone help me figure out what's going on?

You're right in thinking that over 80% is concerning! With 16GB, if you're regularly hitting those high numbers, you're likely utilizing some virtual memory as well. Getting more RAM could definitely help, especially with demanding tasks like gaming or heavy multitasking.
With 16GB of RAM, it's typical to see around 50-80% memory usage depending on what apps you have running. If you're just using a couple of applications, that number does seem high, but newer applications can be quite heavy. You might consider checking what programs are consuming most of your memory in the Task Manager.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check the Task Manager to figure out what's hogging memory.
It seems like you might be running too many processes for your amount of RAM. Also, keep in mind that some apps use more memory than others. If you’re running apps like Chrome or specialized software, they can spike memory usage significantly. A good idea is to close some unused applications or consider upgrading your RAM in the future.
Yeah, I've noticed Chrome taking up a lot. I’ll see if I can manage it better.

I plan to upgrade once I get the funds. Thanks for the insight!
