Why is my monitor stuck at 60Hz in games after changing my wallpaper?

Hey everyone! I recently changed my desktop wallpaper, and now I'm facing a weird issue. It seems that my PC automatically switched to a 4K resolution, which is a problem since my monitor only supports 1080p. Now, when I launch games like CS:GO, they're running in 4K, and I have to manually adjust the resolution for each game. The worst part is that despite my monitor being capable of 165Hz and Windows reporting it as such, the in-game refresh rate is stuck at 60Hz. Is there a way to revert everything back to 1080p and 165Hz? I'd really appreciate any help! Thanks!

That sounds frustrating! One thing you can try is uninstalling and then reinstalling your GPU drivers. Sometimes that helps reset any weird settings that might have been changed during the wallpaper switch.

Should I choose the custom install option for my NVIDIA GPU when I do that?
