Why is my mouse speed causing lag spikes in games?

I've got a pretty powerful PC setup (9800x3D, DDR5 6000 MT/s, you name it), but I've run into a strange issue lately. When I move my mouse quickly in games (for example, while testing in BO6), I notice a significant lag spike along with a 15 to 20% jump in CPU usage according to Task Manager. This increase in CPU usage seems to lag my mouse movement, which is frustrating. I'm currently using a 1000 polling rate, which avoids mouse lag but still spikes CPU usage. Previously, I could use an 8000 polling rate without any issues, so I'm wondering what might have changed. My mouse is an Endgame Gear OP1 8K, and I have 'Angle snapping' and 'Motion sync' enabled. How can I resolve this?

It's great that you've pinpointed the issue with CPU usage! It might be worth monitoring how other background processes are impacting your performance when gaming, as sometimes, even small tasks can spike CPU without you realizing it. Keep an eye on Task Manager while gaming to see if anything else is causing the lag.

That's a good point! I'll definitely check Task Manager while I play to see if there are any other culprits.

It sounds like your mouse speed is putting a lot of strain on your CPU, especially given that you're at a high polling rate. You might want to try lowering the polling rate and see if that helps with the lag. Sometimes higher polling rates can overwhelm a system that's already working hard. Also, you could check if there are any firmware updates for your mouse that might help optimize its performance.

Yeah, I noticed that with my setup too. Dropping the polling rate made a noticeable difference for me. Also, try disabling 'Angle snapping' and 'Motion sync' to see if that improves things.
