I just bought a new 4TB hard drive and put it in a caddy, but Windows isn't recognizing it. The caddy was working fine until yesterday and I've only used it a couple of times, most recently with another hard drive for a friend. The caddy is powered on, and I've tried connecting it to different USB ports on my Gigabyte Aorus Wifi 7 Elite B850 motherboard. I really need this drive to recover some data from another drive. I'm running Windows 11 Pro.

So, if your drive isn't showing up at all in Disk Management, you might want to try removing it from the enclosure and connecting it directly as a SATA or M.2 drive. This could give you better insight into whether the drive itself is an issue.

I can’t do that since my PC is already full with other drives. I need to recover data from another one too, but I think my case is maxed out with 3 SSDs and a 3.5" HDD connected.
