I'm really new to PC gaming and it's super frustrating! I recently put together a new PC that should easily handle most games, but I'm facing constant issues with several graphics-heavy titles that I purchased through Steam. Here's a breakdown of my current problems:
- Red Dead Redemption 2 runs okay in windowed mode but crashes when I try to play in full screen.
- Cyberpunk 2077 crashes right at startup.
- Final Fantasy 7 Remake is extremely laggy.
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth also crashes on startup.
- Expedition 33 won't even start up.
- Spider-Man 2 runs laggy as well.
I've already tried reinstalling my GPU drivers and chipset, as well as all C++ redistributables, and I made sure that DirectX12 is updated.
My setup:
- Motherboard: ASUS Prime B650-Plus Wifi
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070XT
- OS: Windows 11
- RAM: 32GB DDR5
- Storage: 2TB SSD
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm really at a loss here!

Make sure you're plugging your display cable directly into the GPU and not the motherboard. It can be a simple mistake but really makes a difference!
It's always the motherboard I swear.
You've got a fantastic spec there! Things should definitely run smoothly. Double-check how you're connecting your display - ensure you’re using the HDMI or DisplayPort from the GPU. Also, check if Windows recognizes your graphics card by searching 'sysinfo'. If your 9070XT isn't showing up, you might need to reseat it since it can get loose during shipping.
Thank you! I treated myself to this after 10+ years with an old PC. It turned out the issue was just where I connected my display cable!

Oh my God I'm an idiot. Thank you!
