Why is my new PC dropping below 140 FPS?

I recently built a gaming PC with some solid specs, but I'm experiencing issues with frame rates in my games. Even at 1080p with all settings on low, my FPS drops frequently to around 50-130 for short periods, particularly every 6-13 seconds. I'm aware that the 7700x is a powerful processor capable of handling most graphics cards without a hitch. Before I consider spending another $500 on upgrades, like a 7800 or 9800x3d, I'd appreciate any insights on what might be causing these performance issues. Here are my specs for reference: 7700x, PA120SE cooler, B650 Gaming X AX V2 motherboard, 32GB of 6000MHz G.Skill RAM, and an ASRock Challenger 9070 graphics card. I'm happy to provide more info if it helps with diagnosing the problem!

Your setup is definitely overkill for 1080p low settings, so something's off. Which games are you playing specifically? It might help to check out some videos on YouTube for your specific card and game combo to see how they compare. Also, make sure your BIOS is updated and check your CPU/GPU temperatures while gaming—if they’re too high, that could be throttling performance. Have you looked into EXPO settings, and are you using V-Sync or Freesync? Disabling any FPS caps could potentially help too.

First things first, make sure you're plugged into the graphics card and not the motherboard! Also, have you installed all the necessary drivers for your GPU and CPU? If you haven't done so already, try reseating your GPU just to rule that out—it can help with connection issues sometimes.

This hardware really should be running flawlessly at 1080p low. Try downloading HWiNFO and monitor the sensor data during gameplay—look out for any values that spike or go red. If you’re using any tuning apps like Afterburner, resetting their profiles might help also. Your PC's specs suggest you shouldn't have any issues with performance, so it's worth double-checking settings and temps.
