Why is my new PC not performing as expected in games?

I recently built a gaming PC with an Intel i5 14400F, an RTX 5060 Ti, and 16 GB of ASUS Prime OC 6000 MHz DDR5 RAM. While I can achieve high FPS in games like Fortnite—around 240—I'm experiencing significant drops in that number. I've set all the graphics settings to low, and I've also made changes in the BIOS for performance improvements and updated my NVIDIA drivers. Has anyone else encountered similar issues?

Have you checked your mouse’s polling rate? If it's above 1000 Hz, that could be causing some performance drops in Fortnite, especially when you move your mouse. The game doesn’t handle high polling rates too well, and it can lead to those FPS fluctuations you're seeing.

I wouldn't say your PC is underpowered, but Fortnite has become more demanding over time. It's packed with more assets and larger maps, which can affect performance even on low settings. The i5 14400F is decent, but don't expect it to consistently maintain 240 FPS in Fortnite—it might struggle a bit in more complex scenarios.
