Hey everyone! I just bought an RTX 5060 and after I installed it, I started testing it in some games. To my surprise, the performance seems pretty much the same as my old RX 580. Here are my specs: AsRock B350M HDV R3.0, Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB 3200MHz G-Skill Aegis CL16-18-18-38, FSP PNR PRO 600W, and my new Palit RTX 5060. I played a few games to see how it performs:
- In Osu!, I'm still getting around 900-1k FPS (same as before).
- Library Of Ruina doesn't go above 90-100 FPS (also the same as the RX 580).
- Sekiro runs at about 120-140 FPS, which is slightly better than the RX 580.
- In Terraria, I'm seeing between 200-450 FPS, but it drops occasionally from 450 to around 120-130.
I'm really puzzled by this performance drop. What do you guys think could be causing this, and how can I fix it? Any help would be much appreciated!

Have you tried using DDU for a full driver clean-up? It’s essential to remove the old AMD drivers completely before installing the Nvidia ones. That could be playing into the performance issues too! Make sure to do a clean install of your Nvidia driver after that.
Great to hear! Driver issues can be a pain, but sounds like you’ve covered that.
I would also be careful with the games you're testing. Games like Osu! and Library Of Ruina aren’t very demanding, so they won't show the RTX 5060's full potential. Terraria can be CPU-bound too, so consider testing it with more graphically intensive titles. In Sekiro, if you’re using max settings, you should really see a better performance differentiation.
Sekiro should run significantly better as long as the settings are cranked up!
Exactly! I think you should give a more demanding game a shot.
It sounds like you’re experiencing some CPU bottlenecking here. The games you mentioned aren’t particularly demanding, so your new GPU isn’t really pushing the limits in those titles. Upgrading from an RX 580 to an RTX 5060 is nice, but if your CPU is around four generations old, it might be what's holding back your FPS. These older processors can’t keep up with newer GPUs, especially in less demanding games.
So true! It's usually the CPU that limits performance at lower graphics settings.
Right?! If you want to see improvements, you might need to play more demanding games or upgrade your CPU.
Another thing to consider is the PCIe version your motherboard supports. If it's running at 3.0 and the 5060 is using only 8 lanes, that could definitely impact performance. It might be worth looking into whether obtaining a better board could help with that.
I get what you mean, but upgrading the motherboard isn't an option for me right now.
Same here. Costly upgrade for marginal gains. Stick it out!
Honestly, upgrading your CPU might be the best option here. If you're primarily playing CPU-intensive games, you won't see much benefit from a powerful GPU unless you pair it with a good processor. Keep an eye on your CPU usage while gaming — it's likely spiking. Playing some demanding titles will also help show what your GPU can really do!
Good point! Just tested some heavier titles, and the CPU’s not maxed out. Maybe it’s not the bottleneck after all.
Don’t forget to monitor the GPU usage too — you may have an unseen issue there.
Yes, I actually did a 'Clean and Shutdown' before I installed the GPU!
