Why is my PC crashing while playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon?

I've run into an odd problem with my PC: while playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon, it shuts down unexpectedly. My graphics card, an RTX 3070, is about three years old, and I've now experienced this crash three times. Each time, I lose signal to my monitor and can't get it back for several hours. After the second crash, we thought it might be related to running the game on ultra settings, so I switched to medium, but the issue persists. Given that the PC restarts itself mid-game and considering the GPU age, could this mean my graphics card is failing? I plan to upgrade to a 5070 soon, but I want to hear if others think it's a GPU problem or something else, like the PSU.

It sounds like it could be an issue with your power supply unit (PSU). When you run demanding games, your GPU needs more power and this could overload a weak PSU and cause your PC to shut down. Also, don't be too quick to believe the 3-5 year lifespan of GPUs; many people still use older models like the 1080 without issues. So before you jump to the conclusion that your GPU is failing, check out the PSU first!

Make sure you’re using two separate 6x2 power cables for your 3070. I had similar issues when I was daisy chaining my cables, and switching to separate cables from the PSU fixed my random crashes during games. Might help you too!

I faced a similar issue with my 3080! It turns off if I run it for a while because the cable overheats. Sometimes just wiggling the cable brings it back, but I had to replace it three times now. You might want to check the connections!

Have you noticed what kind of crash it is? If your PC just switches off without a blue screen or warning, it’s probably your PSU acting up. However, if you see any blue screens, check the event viewer for error messages. That might give you a clue!

I don’t get any error screens; it just shuts off and then restarts. It's frustrating!
