I've been having issues with my computer not booting properly. It was sluggish over the last few days, and today it completely failed to post, not even reaching the BIOS. My motherboard is displaying various error codes like A2, 39, 42, and 49, but seems to freeze most often on codes 99 and 4F. I built this PC about a year ago and had a similar issue 6 months ago, but a BIOS update fixed that. I've made no hardware or significant software changes since then. Here's my build:
- AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
- Crucial Pro 96GB (2x48GB) 5600MHz CL46 DDR5 RAM
- Asus ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5
- MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER VENTUS 3X OC
- 4x Crucial T500 4TB M.2 SSDs
- NZXT Kraken Elite 360 RGB cooler
I tried troubleshooting: reseating components, booting with different RAM sticks, disconnecting USB devices, and even clearing the CMOS, but nothing has worked. Sometimes, after letting it sit, it boots normally, but then fails again after restarting. Help would really be appreciated!

It sounds like you've done quite a bit already! I'd recommend starting with a CMOS reset if you haven't done it yet. Also, try booting with just one stick of RAM in different slots to see if that's where the issue lies. Reseat your CPU, GPU, and all power connections while you're at it as well. If a previous BIOS update helped before, it could hint at a motherboard issue. If all else fails, consider checking with your manufacturer about a warranty replacement for the motherboard.
This really seems like it could be a RAM issue. When troubleshooting, I’d suggest testing each RAM module individually. Sometimes one module can cause the system not to boot. Also, make sure your components are seated properly. It can be super frustrating, but the motherboard might be at fault if the BIOS keeps acting up without clear reason.
