Why is my PC not performing well in games?

I've got an Intel i5 11400F, an RX 6700 XT, 16 GB of DDR4 single-channel RAM, a 600W power supply, and I'm using a stock cooler. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get solid frame rates in games like The Witcher 3; I can't get above 50 FPS no matter how much I tweak the settings. I've even used DDU to clean my drivers and enabled XMP, but I'm stuck. What else can I try?

It sounds like you might be hitting a CPU bottleneck. Since your RX 6700 XT should be able to handle games better, the problem is likely with the i5 or even your single-channel RAM setup. Have you checked your CPU clock speed? You can do this in Task Manager under Performance. Also, if your RAM is being heavily used and you only have about 3 GB free while gaming, it could lead to stuttering instead of just low FPS. A better cooler might help with performance too.

Honestly, sometimes lowering your graphics settings and resolution isn’t enough to get stable FPS. If it didn’t help at all, you might need to look at how much RAM you’re actually using during gameplay. You mentioned you're at about 13 GB; if you're maxing out your available memory, that could definitely cause issues. Also, don't forget that having single-channel RAM can limit performance compared to a dual-channel setup.
