Why is my PC saying I need permission from an administrator when I’m the only one?

I'm really stressed out about this! I'm trying to tweak my host file on my PC, but every time I attempt to make changes, a message pops up saying I need to 'contact the administrator to obtain permission.' The thing is, I'm the administrator, and there are no other accounts on this machine. How can I solve this issue?

Make sure you're launching Notepad as an admin, then navigate to the host file and open it from there. That usually works for most people.

I’ve already edited the file, but it won't let me swap it out for the new version.

You should try opening Notepad as an administrator first. Once you do that, open the host file directly from within Notepad to make your edits.

I've done that already, but it still won't let me replace the host file in my folders.
