Why is my PC shutting down randomly?

I've been having a frustrating issue with my PC shutting down unexpectedly, both when I'm gaming and when I'm not using it at all. It seems to happen at random times, and the strange part is that after it shuts down, I can't get it to turn back on until I unplug it and let it sit for a while. I've done a few things to troubleshoot, like cleaning out any dust, reseating the RAM, checking the temperatures (which looked normal, though I'm not entirely sure what the right ranges are), and running malware scans (found nothing). I'm not very experienced with PC hardware, so I'm looking for some advice on how to diagnose this issue without spending much money since I can't afford to replace parts right now.

It sounds like a power supply (PSU) issue. It could either be defective or not strong enough for your setup. When a PSU detects a problem, it often shuts down as a safety measure. I advise against using it until you can figure this out, as it might cause more damage over time. Could you tell me what brand and type of PSU you have?

Thanks for the info! I guess I’ll hold off for now until I can buy a new one. How can I check what kind of PSU I have?
