Why is my PC Still Slow After Replacing the PSU?

I've been having issues with my PC running slow, and it all started when I had to reseat the 12VPWHR cable on my 5070 GPU. After doing that, my power went out, leading me to think I might have damaged something related to power. I've since replaced my PSU with a new one and even changed my power strip, but the slowdown persists. Sometimes, Task Manager shows my GPU hitting 100%, but I can't figure out the source. I've also experienced random crashes without a BSOD during heavy loads. I noticed that Resource Monitor displays 100% physical memory usage, even though it claims I have 10GB available, which is confusing. Could my RAM usage be causing these issues? I'm open to providing more info if needed!

You might want to consider running some malware and virus scans. Sometimes, hidden processes like crypto miners can cause high resource usage without your knowledge. Have you tried using a tool like DDU for a clean GPU driver installation?

I've already run multiple scans with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, all came back clean. I think I’ve done enough there, but thanks for the suggestion!

With your memory showing 100% usage yet claiming to have 10GB available, there could be something eating up your RAM or causing a memory leak. You might want to monitor your RAM’s performance during the slowdowns. Have you tried looking for unstable RAM settings in the BIOS? Setting your EXPO profile correctly could help.

I haven't set up the EXPO profile yet because I had issues with it before. Maybe I should give that another try!

Lastly, if you haven't already, try plugging your PC into a different outlet. Sometimes the circuit can’t handle the load if other high-demand devices are sharing it. An electrical issue could lead to a lot of strange behavior. Have you considered that?

I hadn’t thought about that! There aren’t many devices in my room, but it’s worth a shot to connect to a different circuit.

It sounds more like a thermal or software issue rather than anything related to the PSU. The fact that you're getting 100% GPU usage with no specific process showing suggests something might be conflicting. Maybe check for thermal throttling on your CPU or GPU? If they’re running too hot, it could definitely cause those slowdowns.

CuriousCat9 -

Yeah, I check my CPU temps regularly and they can hit around 78°C at peak. My GPU shows around 55-58°C, so I’m not sure if that’s too hot or normal.

If you can, take a look at your SSD's health as well. I had a similar experience where an SSD I thought was fine was actually failing, which caused random crashes and slowdowns. It's worth checking the SMART data and potentially running a tool like CrystalDiskInfo.

Checked my SSDs and they’re all in good health according to CrystalDiskInfo, so hopefully that’s not the issue.
