I recently upgraded my CPU from an i3-12100F to an i5-14600KF, and now I'm experiencing significant stuttering. I've made sure to download the latest drivers for both my GPU and motherboard, watched several troubleshooting videos, and even removed my old CPU's drivers and enabled XMP, but nothing seems to work. Here are my specs:
- Motherboard: Asus Prime H610MK-D4
- GPU: RTX 3050 (8GB)
- CPU: Intel i5-14600KF
- Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE
- RAM: 16GB (2x8GB)
- Storage: 512GB SSD + 1TB HDD
I realize that my GPU isn't the best match for the new CPU, but I'm planning to upgrade that soon. Any ideas on why this stuttering is happening?

Sounds like the issue might be your motherboard. The Asus Prime H610MK-D4 has pretty basic power delivery, which means it can't provide enough juice to your new i5-14600KF. This CPU needs more power than your old i3, and if the motherboard can’t deliver it, the CPU will throttle down, resulting in lower performance and stuttering. You might want to consider upgrading your motherboard to one with better power delivery.
Is it possible to fix this by underclocking my CPU or do I really need to get a new motherboard?
